Angry

Strong easterly winds from Gustav are even impacting the east coast of Florida, causing very high tides this morning. The surf can be heard up to a half-mile inland. You can just feel anger in the atmosphere, angry skies and angry oceans. Even a bunny rabbit hopped out of the sea oats and bitch-slapped me across the face. Ok I made that last one up. These storms are nothing to joke about of course. Hannah is forecast to strike Savannah and come very close to shore along the coast here. Unfortunately I have a leg injury preventing me from getting out to take more pics. Conditions will deteriorate here as the week progresses. The cone below marks the “road” on the beach. The high tide is overflowing into the road and will make driving on the beach dangerous.
I’m just a shell of a man but if you hold me to your ear you can hear the ocean roar.

Update: Would somebody tell the bumbleheads at MSNBC that water lapping over a canal wall isn’t a breach and not worthy of hours of news coverage? If the wall breaks, it’s news.

  1. That sucks about the leg. Here’s hoping the storm doesn’t strengthen more than expected, and sticks to the predicted paths. (I hate those uppity storms which don’t know their place)
