Chasing Cardinals

card6580o.jpg
I guess this one has to be my favorite pic taken in 2007. I’ve got dozens of male cardinal pics but a snow shot had eluded me for years. Cardinals don’t like people and will fly off at the slightest disturbance. They also easily recognize the human form even if you are completely motionless and won’t come near, unlike many other songbirds. There has to be some bad blood between humans and cardinals way back in our ancestral roots. This one was taken on April 15th in the Smokies.

  4. That’s beautiful! Cardinals are especially beautiful when they are surrounded by the soft whiteness of snow.
